DE Manual Pressure

In this year's game, you can actually get some pressure from the defensive ends by manually pass rushing them. This will help force your opponent into throw quicker than he wants to. We won't tell you this works every time, with every defensive end in the game, because it won't. In order for this to work, the DE must have speed. We recommend a rating of 84 or higher.

Note: For more NCAA 09 Strategies, please visit www.ncaa08tips.com .

The defense comes out in the 4-3 Normal Cover 3. We flipped the play at the play call screen because it overloads the left side of the offensive line. The strong defensive tackle, weak defensive tackle, and right end all line up on the left.

The first thing we want to do is crash the defensive line to the middle. Notice we are in control of the RE.

Once the ball is snapped, we let the RE rush inside.

About a split second later (count one in your head), we want to take control of him...

...and rush him outside. While we are doing this, we are pressing the speed burst button. Notice how the LT is blocking inside.

This allows us to blow around the LT with the RE.

We then go straight after the QB. Once we get around the LT, we can release the RE and let the CPU take control of him and go after the QB. Or we can stay in control of him and go after the QB ourselves.

Quick Tip: To prevent your opponent from rolling his QB away from the pressure, consider hot routing the LE in QB Contain. That way if he tries to roll out to the right side, the LE will be in position to make a sack.

In the screen shot, we sack the QB.

This is something you will want to play with. Against the CPU controlled QB, he more than likely will still get the pass off. However the CPU controlled QB may throw a few more interceptions. Against a human, you should be able rack up a few more sacks. Like we said, we can't promise it will work every time, but it will give you a pass rush from the defensive line in this year's game.

Thanks, Irish72, that's a good tip as well. Anyone else who has techniques they have found to get pressure with D-Linemen, please feel free to post them.

Hey guys, let's keep this thread on track. Kobra is here to help out the guys who need help and he is awesome at what he does. I consider myself a pretty good Madden and NCAA player, but Kobra showed me some things with the games that I never knew about. For some of you, these tips may be soemthing that you are already aware of, but for others it is something new that can add to the game. Like Kobra said, if you have any tips/strats that you think can help others improve, please leave them here. For those of you wanting to get in a game of NCAA, I will be online this Tuesday. Send me a friend request to my XBL GT Dewiel and we will get soem games in.

I've found that when a team is in the shotgun using your speed rusher again like VG_Kobra says you need a fast rusher you can time the snap when the QB calls for the snap he'll raise his foot are his foot or pump his hands, hit the left trigger and he'll jump the snap and most of the time he'll be at full speed and can go in for the sack, but sometimes the AI will pick up on you jumping the snap and you can go offsides, hope this helps you get more sacks.

PIies, as far using defensive linemen go it's just one of many strats to be used to gain pressure. Like most I do not control my DE but instead control a safety. In NCAA 09, I was trying to simply show away to get pressure from the defensive line since players are having problems getting any type of a pass rush when only rushing 3 or 4 players. As far as everyone trying to talk how great they are by posting records, why not help and post some strats in this thread to help out others.

aka 256, as I stated in the write up it does not work all the time. If you play against mobile QB it's going to be harder to get to him than a slower QB. Again I am trying to give guys some advice to improve their game. If you have any advice, feel free to share it or send me a PM, so I can look into it.

If you are looking for more speed at RE, come out in LB Pass Rush Package out of Dime. Check to see what your ROLB's speed rating is. Also if you like you can always audible down from Dime to Nickel, 4-3,4-4 or 46 and have the ROLB in at RE if you use the LB Pass Rush Package. Or course if you play in a league, check the rules page to see what you can and can't do. Another option is to sub fast LB in at RE, again check league rules. Some will consider this tactic cheap.
