Hello and once again welcome to the Second Edition of The Steel Curtain. This blog is exclusive to EA Sports NHL 09 and will be told from a Be a Player (BAP) Goalies point of view. I am your host as always, the emphatic, immaculate, spec tactic Event Status, aka The Main Event with the Spider Sense, aka the Iron Man with the Plan, etc.

I first want to thank those who took the time out and viewed the previous blog, because without you, the viewers, this blog wouldnt be successful. I also want to apologize for the lengthy amount of time it took to produce this weeks blog, due to moving to a new area. Now that things seem to be back to normal, The Steel Curtain should be more accessible on a consistent basis. With that out of the way now, lets get to this blog, as I have a couple of topics I felt needed some attention since Ive been gone

Peter Moores Blog:

I actually had a chance to read Mr. Moores blog, before I moved, and I couldnt help but to see the backlash and read the complaints that came afterwards. Sure the blog is the typical assurance is a must, even though gamers dont feel that way. I wouldnt even be surprised if Mr. Moore himself doesnt even write the blog. Possibly he has someone writing it for him, or managing it for him, under his name. It happens all the time

But to my surprise it was the gamers who complained a lot about cheating online. Now I look down on cheating just as much as the next guy, but as gamers online, you have to expect that. Why, because youll NEVER find real competition in an online sport. Once again, you have to go out and play these sports in real life, if you want REAL competition. Put down the controller, head to a real court, field or ice rink if you really want competition. Anybody can put in a code or expose a glitch, so dont take it so seriously.

Whiners vs Legit Complaints:

(Legit Complaints) As I read on, I see some gamers have some issues that really need to be addressed. Whether you felt mislead or cheated, I really feel for you guys if you went through the proper channels, and were still shafted if you have concrete evidence. However, demanding change and insulting a company that already has your money, will get you nowhere.

The only thing these companies understand is money, because they are NOT taking the time out to hear your opinions. And the only way to get them to listen is to hit them where it hurts the most, in the pockets. Stop buying the games if you really have a problem with them, nobody is putting a gun to your head to buy them. I understand gamers expect quality, but just because its promised, doesnt mean youll always get it.

(Whiners) Sometimes, I just dont get you guys. I went on the EA Forums and saw other Goalies complaining that their teams dont score enough points, so they, as a Goalie, have to work harder to win. I couldnt help but to do the proverbial Facepalm after reading that. For example, my Goalie is part of the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL) and they are a very high slot scoring team. There are times we have won with an offensive 9 goals on net. However, they do lack in defense at times and my own Defensive men score on me.

What Im trying to say is, do your research. Just because you pick a team that you are in net for, doesnt mean the team as a whole will always dominate. Teams get into slumps and even though youare having good games consistently, doesnt mean others players are. This is all part of the team (BAP) aspect; you live and die with whatever team you are with. You want to talk about complaints? Looks at this!

This goal that I actually blocked was counted for the other team. I thought maybe it crossed the red line and I was too far in the net, but that wasnt the case. I looked at it from every angle before recording it and putting it on here, but things like this happen. Whether cheated, not having help, etc, you cant get hung up on one goal or one game, when you still have the rest of the game or season to play. You can only take it one shot at a time.

Goalie Expectations:

Goalies, when you finally start in-net for a team, they expect a lot from you. But you however, should not expect anything from them. Remember, you are the LAST line of defense. Meaning the other players on the team are suppose to stop the opposing team, before they even get to you. If they dont, too bad! Your job is to stop that puck regardless who blew a position beforehand.

In that time it is only you and the puck, thats all that matters. If you dont stop it, okay, there should be no finger pointing, because every player blew their opportunity to stop the opposing team. And before any sniper comes in here and says I was pretty much away from the play. Guess what? Thats the gamble you took offensively and didnt get back in time. You are just as responsible as anyone else.

Goalies, you cannot let pressure get to you. It is your job to handle pressure better then anyone else on the team. Play your game and stay confident!

Well, thats all for this weeks edition of The Steel Curtain. I had a hell of a lot more to say, but this weeks topics already have made this blog long-winded enough. I just want to thank the readers again for viewing the blog, and for those who felt Ive come on too strongly this time around, I sorry you feel that way. Even though I havent really been able to write about things as of late, I have been viewing whats going on here, I just felt it needed to be aggressively addressed.

Next week I will be speaking on Goalie Identity, More EA online suggestions and Goalie Aggression towards opponents. Just remember everyone, be safe and keep it fun.
