So... I've been here on easportsworld since about last October, but really have not paid too much attention to what has been going on with the site in whole. Just thought it was a cool way to compare your stats online and make an avatar for the game. Every so often, I would browse around the site to see what else was going on. But, typically, I would only look around the "american" football section. None of the groups would boast more than 40 or so members total, with the exception of the surge of college footbal groups like Ohio St. and Florida in the hundreds. I would have to keep reminding myself that, in fact, the upper left hand corner of the site does state BETA, so this is still relatively a new site and still in testing stages.
BUT wait a minute....
I recently just cruised over to the EURO 2008 section... and my mouth dropped. The group for England alone probably has close to more members than all of Madden and NCAA football groups combined (granted, some are probably members of all 3). I know that "football" is the biggest sport in the world, but this just goes to show it. Total reality check on my end. I'm sure there are tons of folks who play online but don't know about this site. It's pretty much the Myspace of sports video games and will become so much more in the future. My question is, whats being done to spread the word? Peer to peer can only go so far. I'm sure there's a lesson us in the states can learn from all those over seas, or are we just too lazy to create an account?
I'm curios enough to go pick up a copy of EURO 08 just to see how bad my *** gets kicked and chewed out over the mic (i'm "american" football 24/7/365 and haven't played a soccer video game since Tiny Toon All Stars on Sega Genesis). I can then join in the masses here on a true EA Sports World.
