Nine Georgia Bulldogs were selected to the 2008 Southeastern Conference Coaches Pre-Season All-SEC Football Team as announced by the league on Monday.
Georgia’s nine players tabbed Pre-Season All-SEC by the league’s coaches ranked as the third most selections behind LSU’s 14 and Florida’s 10. For this year’s coaches pre-season squad, there were first, second and third-teams.
Sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno highlighted the group of Bulldogs on the team by being one of just six unanimous first-team selections, while senior linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was also named first team on defense.
Of the 81 student-athletes named to the first, second and third teams, Moreno and Curran represent two of the six sophomores chosen. A total of 35 juniors and 40 seniors were named to the team.
This is the fifth year of the SEC Coaches Pre-Season All-SEC Football Team. It is released in advance of the 2008 SEC Football Media Days, which will be held July 23-25, at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala. Georgia will be represented at the event by head coach Mark Richt, Massaquoi and Owens. Media in attendance at SEC Football Media Days will vote on the All-SEC Team and a predicted order of finish for the league.
