I rented out UEFA Euro 2008 from Xtra-vision to increase my gamerscore and to see if it was any good.
In my opinion the offline modes are far ahead of Fifa 08 and Captain Your Country is genius, also the online modes are much better, e.g. Online Knockout Cup is a brilliant idea and the online and offline achievements are all very imaginative especially 'Hat-trick Healy' because i'm Northern Irish :), and for the online achievements the seeded achievements are a very good idea as well as frustrating.
Now on to the few bad points, the online doesn't flow as well as Fifa 08 sometimes feeling clunky and slow, the power meter for the passes adds to this slow flowing and very scrapy gameplay. Also if you are playing as a low seeded team and you are beating your opponent 4-0, they sometimes quit leaving you without the achievements ruining all your hardwork, if you do not already have them, what bright spark thought that was a good idea?
Surely you would think they would have made an update to stop this problem as it is incredibly frustrating when you are beating someone with Hungary and then for them to continuously quit meaning you have to continue to play not always beating the other opponents but there are decent people out there and i am very grateful they did not quit during my attempts to obtain the achievements.
I know this is a UEFA Euro 2008 game so yes there should only be European countries in it but when there are games like Fifa 08 with so many teams in it and a lot of the teams already in it that are in Euro 2008, why did they not just bring out an update for Fifa 08 and include those teams in the game from the start? As a result of this very few people play this game because it is merely a seasonal game and not one that can be played all year round.
So in conclusion there is not much to justify a purchase of this game when Fifa 08 has better online gameplay, wider selection of teams, Be a Pro online mode and has more people playing because Euro 2008 is strictly promoted to a European audience, while Fifa 08 is promoted to a worldwide audience.
I will give this game 7/10 and say to anybody thinking of buying it don't, rent it out for a few nights and get the achievements and if you are looking for a good football game to play and you don't already have it buy Fifa 08 or PES 8.

Hope you enjoyed my review, and yes i do have a social life i just thought it would be fun to review a game and see if i got a good response. If you want me to review a certain game let me know by leaving a comment and i will do a review on it.

Thanks,

Thanks for your opinion, I'm a Xbox 360 Gamer and while i had it i did play this game online so my rating of it is going to be based on both sides of the coin offline and online, i'm sure you will agree that they did try to push the online for Euro 2008 as they introduced the Euro online knockout Cup. So while yes single-player is very good and better than in Fifa i have to give a rating for the online as well and when you combine the two, you get an Adequate game.

I don't play online (I play video games to get AWAY from human beings!) some of my friends do, but they play 360 and I play PS3. But in my opinion, at least offline, World Cup, EURO, CL, are always vastly superior to FIFA in game play because EA instead of thousands of teams to program and animate there are 60 or 100. Of course the fun of FIFA is getting to play w/ your favorite club and Manager Mode, transfers and all that. So it's 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. I've never played PES but EURO 08 is by far the best game i've ever played, just my opinion.
